Patrick Malley brings two decades of educational leadership experience to Haslett Public Schools, where he has served as Superintendent since July 2024. His career spans rural, urban, and suburban districts across Michigan, consistently focused on designing schools that meet the unique needs of their communities.
Malley holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Ball State University and a Bachelor's degree in History from Michigan State University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University, is a Google GSV Education Innovation Fellow and SVSU Gerstacker Fellow, and has served on multiple state and national education initiatives.
Malley believes that schools are designed to achieve their current outcomes. When students need to reach higher levels of success, schools must adapt to meet those emerging needs. This perspective drives his commitment to creating deep learning experiences for all students in the community, regardless of background. His leadership approach centers on comprehensive stakeholder engagement, bringing together administrators, teachers, community leaders, and families to ensure schools reflect community aspirations and address real student needs.
Under his leadership, in partnership with the Board of Education, Haslett has developed a 2025-2030 strategic plan focused on ensuring every student graduates "READY to Shape Their Future" with the academic foundation, essential skills, and adaptive mindsets necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Prior to joining Haslett, Malley served as Chief Academic Officer for Bay City Public Schools, where he increased postsecondary opportunities for underrepresented high school students and led initiatives that increased K-3 reading proficiency by 6%. As Assistant Superintendent and Principal at Meridian Public Schools, he helped reverse a decade-long enrollment decline and increased first-year college completion rates from 35% to 80%. His experience includes managing multi-million dollar budgets and leading successful bond initiatives. His early career included founding the Niles New Tech Entrepreneurial Academy and teaching high school History and AP Psychology.
A Michigan State University alumnus with deep appreciation for the greater Lansing area, Malley is an active member of Haslett-Okemos Rotary and remains engaged in educational advocacy at state and national levels. He is married to Stephanie and they have three boys who are excited to be part of the Haslett community.
