Our strategic planning process was rooted in extensive community engagement and collaborative input. Over six months, we conducted comprehensive listening sessions, surveys, and focus groups to ensure every voice in our community helped shape the future of Haslett Public Schools.

Our Planning Journey

January 27, 2025

Board Resolution Launches Strategic Planning

The Board of Education formally established a Strategic Planning Task Force, launching a comprehensive community engagement process with clearly defined roles for the task force, Board, and administration.

February–March, 2025

School-Focused Community Engagement

Led by building principals, each school hosted multiple focus groups and listening sessions tailored to their unique community. Staff, students, and families participated in structured dialogue sessions designed to gather input on student outcomes and district capabilities, ensuring every voice in our school communities helped shape our strategic direction.

March–April, 2025

Data Analysis and Synthesis

The Strategic Planning Task Force and Board engaged in a back-and-forth review of input from our school-focused community engagement sessions alongside comprehensive survey responses from over 1,400 students, staff, and families, analyzing more than 35,000 individual ratings and comments to identify the district's greatest strengths and key challenges moving forward.

April–May, 2025

Community Validation and Board Presentation

The district organized all feedback into priority statements and conducted a final Likert-style survey, receiving over 350 responses with overwhelming community support for what would become our strategic pillars and priorities. On May 12, 2025, the Task Force formally presented these pillars and priorities to the Board for the first time.

May–July, 2025

Administrative Alignment and Plan Development

Administrators aligned building continuous improvement plans with the emerging priorities and conducted a crosswalk with past plans to ensure continuity while establishing the new strategic direction. On July 21, 2025, the complete draft "Ready to Shape Their Future" strategic plan document was presented to the Board of Education.

August 11, 2025

Plan Approval and Implementation Launch

Administrators presented the 2025-2026 strategies and initiatives aligned with the strategic pillars and priorities. Following a three-week public preview period that generated additional community input, the Board of Education approved the Haslett Public Schools 2025-2030 Strategic Plan "Ready to Shape Their Future."
