Seahawks Swim Club
Team Mission Statement
The Seahawks, a Haslett community swim club program, is dedicated to fostering an environment ideal for student athletes ages 8 and up of various skill levels to learn the sport of competitive swimming. Our skilled coaching staff works to provide a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for all athletes so that each swimmer can achieve their personal goals in the pool and enjoy swimming for a lifetime. We focus on ensuring that, through striving for excellence in the pool, the competitive swimming experience can serve as a catalyst for developing life skills such as self-discipline, dedication, leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Please visit our ActiveNet site for current/upcoming season registration information as it becomes available
Bronze
The Bronze group is the entry-level training group of the Seahawks program, a step up from level 5 swim lessons. In addition to meeting the skill criteria below, swimmers must be at least 8 years old at the start of the season they are registering for.
They must be able to swim a length of the pool unassisted at any depth (25M), with continuous arm movement in and out of the water (front crawl), and be able to put their face in the water with continuous rotary breathing.
The goal of this group is to teach that competitive swimming is fun, to learn three of the four competitive strokes, starts/turns.
When do we swim?
During the school year, the team practices on Monday and Wednesday evenings. While the times vary by training group, they generally fall between 5:00 PM and 7:15 PM. The exceptions are during the Middle School Swim season, which often includes an additional day, and the Summer Training sessions, which generally are held mid-morning.

Silver
The Silver group is the intermediate training group of the Seahawks program and practices are focused on swimming with occasional dry land training.
Minimum requirements are ability to swim freestyle and backstroke for 100 yards continuously, breaststroke or butterfly stroke for 50 yards continuously, and do a forward start
Focus is on improving skills for the four competitive strokes, starts and turns, and to gain an understanding on how to train properly for competition.
If you have not previously swam with the Seahawks, or you were previously in the Bronze group, you must have a coach’s evaluation/approval on the first day of a session to sign up for this group.
What do I need to bring?
Everyone needs a one piece suit, goggles, a swim cap, towel, and a water bottle for practices and meets.
If you are going to compete in meets, you should have a suit that is worn for competitions only (different from your practice suit). It can be the team suit (found at the team store link below), or any suit that is blue or navy (can be a solid or a print). Please make sure it fits properly, and you check its fit and condition periodically throughout the season.
Gold
The Gold group is the most competitive training group of the Seahawks program. Practice format focuses on swimming with occasional dry land training.
Minimum requirements include ability to swim freestyle for 200 yards continuously, backstroke and breaststroke for 100 yards, butterfly for 50 yards, correct forward and backstroke start, and all 3 of the competitive turns (front turn, two hand turn, backstroke turn).
Gold group swimmers work on improving the skills for the four competitive strokes learned in the previous levels and to increase their training and conditioning to ready them to meet their personal goals in more serious competition.
If you have not previously swam with the Seahawks, or you were previously in the Silver group, you must have a coach’s evaluation/approval on the first day of a session to sign up for this group.
